Dear Advisor,
I am a teaching professional and want to change my name. I have been using the name "Sumon Rahman" in my non-academic writings, while the name "Din Mohammad" has been tagged in all academic and legal matters (marriage and birth certificates, educational certificates, passports of my spouse and children, and so on). Is it possible to change my name to "Din M Sumon Rahman" for legal purposes? Then is it possible to get all certificates corrected accordingly? How long it could take?

Dear Din Mohammad
Yes, the name can be changed by affidavit. You have to take affidavit copy and advertisement of name change copies to the concerned authorities (board office for certificates, passport office, Marriage registry office ). Then they will provide you new copies. Time depends on the concerned offices.
